€854,000 IN SPORTS CAPITAL GRANTS FOR DUBLIN BAY NORTH - KENNY

A total of €854,000 has been awarded to 12 sports clubs, organisations and facilities in Dublin Bay North as part of the 2015 Sports Capital Programme, which was announced today.

Labour's Sean Kenny welcomed the news, stating that the funding will help boost local participation in sports by helping clubs develop their facilities.

Deputy Kenny said: "I want to congratulate the local clubs and organisations who have been successful in their bids and wish them well. These clubs and organisations are - 5th Port Dollymount Sea Scouts, which received €14,000, Clontarf Lawn Tennis Club which received €67,500. Howth Sea Angling Club received €21,250 while Saint Laurence O'Toole GAA Club received €9,965. Sutton Dinghy Club received €24,950 and Sutton Lawn Tennis Club received €200,000 in funding."

Belcamp Park - €38,170
Donaghmede Park - €11,384
Fairview Park - €104,521
Kilbarrack - €150,000
Oscar Traynor Road - €12,723

A huge volume of applications was received, and I would encourage those who didn't make the cut this time to apply again to the next grant scheme."

"In the meantime, I am delighted that thefunding grants that were made will help clubs modernise and develop their sports facilities and purchase new sports equipment, and that local parks will get funding to improve their facilities. All of this will have positive knock-on effects for our community."
