FIANNA FAIL OBJECTION TO GOVERNMENT'S SOCIAL HOUSING PLANS CANNOT BE TAKEN REMOTELY SERIOUSLY - KENNY

Posted on January 29, 2015 2:28 PM

Speaking on Private Members Business Recently we had the RTE Drama "Charlie" which amongst other things highlighted the link between FF and builders such as the Gallagher Group during the CJ Haughey period. I recall that when I purchased my Gallagher built home in 1969 in Raheny, I received a letter from then Minister CJ Haughey shortly after I moved in welcoming me into his constituency and assuring me that if I needed his assistance I should contact him. As I was not even on the electoral register CJ could only have obtained my name from the builder Gallagher; there...

COMMISSION INTO MOTHER AND BABY HOMES TO REVEAL YET ANOTHER DARK CHAPTER OF IRISH HISTORY - KENNY

Posted on January 28, 2015 7:01 PM

Speaking on the Commission of Investigation (Mother and Baby Homes and Certain Related Matters) Order 2015 I very much welcome the publication on the 9th of January of the terms of reference for the commission of investigation into the mother and baby homes and certain related matters, which will be constituted under the Commissions of Investigation Act 2004. This is another step by this government to deal with the failures of the past. This was a period, in the past, when Ireland was ruled politically for the most part by FF Leader Eamon De Valera as Taoiseach, and later as...

FIANNA FAIL ARE DOWNRIGHT HYPOCRITICAL ON AER LINGUS - KENNY

Posted on January 28, 2015 12:14 PM

Labour TD Sean Kenny, and member of the Oireachtas Committee on Transport, has slammed Fianna Fail for their stance on Aer Lingus. "In short, Fianna Fáil are hypocrites when it comes to Aer Lingus. We are in the current situation because a previous Fianna Fail government decided to privatise the company." "I find the commentary by current Fianna Fail Transport Spokesperson, Tommy Dooley, particularly difficult to stomach because he was a Senator during the period when both measures which allowed for Aer Lingus' privatisation were introduced into the Seanad by Fianna Fail." "It also needs to be said that Micheal...

MUCH-NEEDED REGULATION OF CLAMPING SECTOR SHOWS PROGRESS - KENNY

Posted on January 26, 2015 4:51 PM

Dublin Bay North Labour TD and member of the Oireachtas Justice Committee Sean Kenny said in the Dáil last week that the Vehicle Clamping Bill fulfills a commitment made in the Programme for Government. "This Bill addresses the commitment in the Programme for Government to legislate to regulate clamping. The impetus for this commitment stems principally from public concerns in regard to the activity of some clamping operators, and the extent to which clamping may be carried out in a less than fair manner, with no obvious consistent or transparent recourse to appeal against perceived abuses. The areas of greatest...

CSO DATA FOR DECEMBER DEMONSTRATES CONTINUED RECOVERY AND INCREASED JOBS - KENNY

Posted on January 8, 2015 5:01 PM

Local Labour TD Sean Kenny has welcomed a further drop in Live Register figures, which show a steady decline in unemployment since early 2012. "The latest CSO figures indicate unemployment continues to fall steadily with the rate dropping to a little over 9% in the past year. Across the area for which I was elected, Dublin North East, there were 9167 on the Live Register in December 2013 and 8373 people on the Live Register in December of this year. That is a drop of just below 9%, which is excellent news and shows consistent and steady improvement from last...

POSITIVE TRANSITION TO NEW FUEL SCHEME FOR DISABLED DRIVERS - KENNY

Posted on January 8, 2015 12:38 PM

Dublin Bay North Labour TD Sean Kenny, a member of the Oireachtas Committee on Transport, has welcomed the news that disabled drivers and disabled passengers will not lose out in the transfer from the old excise relief scheme to the new fuel grant scheme. "The Minister for Finance previously stated that a new fuel grant would be brought in to replace the excise relief scheme that has been operating for many years as part of the Disabled Drivers and Disabled Passengers Scheme. This change was made in accordance with a ruling by the Court of Justice of the European Union."...

STRONG EMPLOYMENT DATA PROVES RECOVERY IS CONTINUING - KENNY

Posted on January 7, 2015 5:44 PM

Labour TD, Sean Kenny, has said that the Live Register figures released today demonstrate the continuing economic recovery. "The Live Register figures that came out today show that unemployment has come down from 15.1% in February 2012 to 10.6% in December 2014. This is now the 30th straight month that unemployment figures have come down, and what that means is that people are going back to work after the worst economic recession to affect Ireland in many decades. I also welcome the continued fall in youth unemployment to 13.5%, which is significant in itself." "The present Government, when it took...

Dublin Bay North Labour TD Seán Kenny today called on the Licenced Vintners' Association to call off the unscrupulous "Welfare Wednesday" drinks promotion to be launched at Liz Delaney's Bar (formerly "The Black Sheep" pub) which is located at Coolock's Northside Shopping Centre "As well as promoting irresponsible drinking this promotion unfairly stereotypes welfare recipient's as people who spend their income on booze. These drinks promotions unfairly label the Coolock area in a negative way and does not reflect the actual...
