Deputy Seán Kenny today said he was delighted to have been appointed to the Arts, Culture & Transport and the Justice & Defence Committees, which will oversee the legislation and function of policy in relation to the areas of arts and culture, matters concerning transport, as well as the areas of legal and justice issues, and also the issues surrounding defence matters. KENNY WELCOMES CLARIFICATION ON DUFFY REPORT

I welcome the clarification provided in the Dáil today by Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform Brendan Howlin that there will be a full consultation process entered into with the Social Partners by the Government prior to any decisions being made on reforming the Joint Labour Committees system. Speaking in the Dail today, Minister Howlin was clear that the discussions and deliberations on this matter would be on the basis of the Duffy/ Walsh Report and not on any other basis. That clarification is most welcome, as is Minister Howlin's assurance that there is no pre-determined outcome to these deliberations....

Dublin North East TD Seán Kenny has commented on the proposed DART spur from Clongriffon to Dublin Airport. "The idea of a DART railway spur from Clongriffin DART station to Dublin Airport may well be good value for money if Metro North is delayed - the cost may well be considerably less than the €3 billion that Metro North could cost - perhaps around €400 million." "If DART Underground is proceeded with it makes even more sense - communities and people from Kildare to Dublin could get the train across Dublin City to the airport without having to change trains...

DEPUTY SEÁN KENNY WELCOMES SHELVING OF GREYHOUNDS EXPORT PLAN

Following on the decision of the Irish Greyhound Board to shelve its report on the export of greyhounds to China, Deputy Seán Kenny TD of Dublin North East has welcomed this development. "I welcome the decision that the Board has agreed to amend its report to ensure that Irish greyhounds are not exported from Ireland", Deputy Kenny said. "There is a lot of concern about China's poor animal welfare record, and it would be very difficult to ensure the wellbeing of Irish greyhounds once they leave the country."...
