Dublin Bay North Labour TD Sean Kenny has said that Labour in Government is delivering new school builds and improvement works to existing schools and that this shows that Labour is committed to the children in local communities.

"More than €434 million was provided for major school building and modernisation projects in Dublin between 2011 and 2015. This year will see a new school being built in Belmayne, that school being St Francis of Assisi National School. In 2012, St. Michael's House Special School, Dublin 5 was built from the ground up and is a fine addition to our community and brilliantly serves children with extra educational requirements. Also in 2012, both the Senior and Junior sections of Scoil Eoin Baisde primary school in Clontarf had large scale extensions added."

"The Summer Works Scheme has been rolled out across the constituency and indeed across Dublin for both primary and post-primary schools, with €24,527,111 allocated from 2011 to the end of March this year for primary schools and in post-primary schools €21,382,834 allocated from 2011 to the end of March this year. In terms of minor Works grants given to schools, these have also been rolled out across in Dublin since 2011 with €15,597,659 allocated from then until March of this year."

"Labour has delivered consistently for schools in communities across Dublin Bay North and has continued to do so even in the most difficult and challenging of times. Now that things are looking up again, the funding available to carry out work that is needed to keep the schools that our children need for their education and funding for new schools that will cater to increased numbers of children is being provided and will continue to be provided by Labour in Government."
