Local Labour TD for Donaghmede Sean Kenny has said he is delighted to announce the allocation of funding to Dublin City Council to provide sports and recreational facilities at Donaghmede Park.

"The Department of Sport, in equal partnership with Irish Public Bodies (IPB) and Local Authorities have created a €3m fund to create and enhance sport and recreational facilities across the country. Applications were sought from Local Authorities for suitable qualifying projects and I am very pleased that Donaghmede Park was one of the successful applicants."

"Funding to a maximum of €58k was available for each project from the Department of Sport with Local Authorities to contribute a further amount. Donaghmede Park has received the maximum of €58,000 from the Department and I understand that Dublin City Council will contribute at least €29k more in funding, which makes the total funding for this project at least €87k."

"This is a very positive move for the local community, and will be a great boost for its younger members."
