Dublin Bay North Labour TD, Sean Kenny, has welcomed the announcement by the residents of Priory Hall that they are looking forward to moving on within the framework of the proposals that have been put forward by the Government to end the two year long nightmare that those who own apartments in the Priory Hall complex have been through.

"Senior officials in the Department of the Environment were asked to initiate dialogue that includes representatives of Dublin City Council, the Irish Banking Federation, NAMA, the former residents of Priory Hall, and other stakeholders and to report back to the Government within three weeks with a proposed resolution. They have now completed that process in the three week period they had been given."

"I understand that he residents have raised a number of concerns with the Government and have received concrete assurances from senior members of both the Taoiseach's office and the Department of the Environment that the two year deadline imposed will be adhered to and that the new Priory Hall development will be built to a high quality. The owners have been guaranteed that they will be active participants in the implementation process and will be involved in all aspects of the decision making process and are looking forward to working with all parties to bring this new development to the high quality standard that they were led to believe they had originally bought."

"The most urgent need is to identify a solution for the former owner-occupiers of Priory Hall, who have been stuck in a totally unacceptable position. All parties involved in Priory Hall have been asked to come together in good faith. It is vital that the former residents are facilitated in as timely a manner as possible so that they can put this behind them and get on with their lives."

"I really do hope that after repeatedly raising this matter in the Dail and also with various ministers over the past few years, and after a great deal of work done by Labour representatives in Donaghmede, that this is finally comprehensive solution that the residents of Priory Hall so badly need. I will be monitoring the situation carefully over the coming months to ensure the residents are satisfied. They have all been through too much as it is and they simply do not deserve to experience more difficulties."
