Dublin Bay North Labour TD Sean Kenny has today warmly welcomed the approval by the Government that €3m in funding will be allocated to Darndale as part of the Area Based Child Poverty Initiative.

"I welcome the announcement today that the Cabinet today approved funding for Darndale - up to a maximum of €3m. I have been pursuing this matter since I was elected to the Dail over 2 years ago. The Initiative was announced by the Government in December 2012 and will deliver on its commitment to build on the learning that has been gained from existing prevention and early intervention programmes."

"The aim of these Preparing For Life programmes is to improve outcomes in areas such as literacy, speech and language, parenting, health and pro-social behaviour and they break the cycle of child poverty in the areas where it is most deeply entrenched, and improve outcomes for children and young people."
