Dublin North East Labour T.D., Sean Kenny today welcomed the news that Dollymount Stand has regained its much treasured Blue Flag status for 2012.

"All the criteria in the application were filled out positively and all conditions necessary to achieve the Blue Flag on the beach and Bull Island have been put in place.

"Water quality results were in line with the rules and regulations required in order to be eligible for a Blue Flag. Achieving the Blue Flag standard regarding water quality has always been a challenge, as it is of a considerably higher standard than the EU levels required by law and I want to pay tribute to Dublin City Council for their hardwork in ensuring that standards were maintained at such a high level.

"It is a real achievement to have a Blue Flag beach in the middle of our capital city. Well done to all those who have endeavoured to keep Dollymount's Blue Flag flying high. Dollymount Strand has an important place in the memories of many Dubliners past. It is vital that we maintain it for future generations".
