Dublin Bay North Labour TD Seán Kenny has welcomed the provision of funding for Manor House School in Raheny and St. Joseph's Primary School for Children with Visual Impairment in Drumcondra.

"Manor House School is getting additional funding for mechanical works while St. Joseph's Primary School for Children with Visual Impairment require the funding for structural works that are needed to ensure that pupils and staff are safe when at school. This sort of funding is essential to enable the schools to continue to provide education to our young people and I warmly welcome the funding."

"It is vitally important that the country maintains its educational facilities at primary level, in order to accommodate the increasing numbers of pupils over the next few years. We have to plan ahead for this, and this funding is a part of that planning."

"A five year plan Schools Capital Programme was unveiled by the Government worth €1.5 billion and the rolling out of this funding is being overseen by Minister for Education Jan O'Sullivan. This funding will see a total of 275 major school buildings projects commenced between now and 2016. The €100 million loan being provided by the European Investment Bank (EIB) will assist in funding this investment."
