Dublin Labour TD Sean Kenny has welcomed a further drop in Live Register figures, which show a steady decline in unemployment."

"The latest CSO figures indicate unemployment continues to fall with the rate dropping to 9.8%. In Coolock, in Dublin North East there were 4385 people on the Live Register in May 2014 and the latest figures for May 2015 show a drop to 3903. In the Kilbarrack area for the same time period, there was a drop from 4781 to 4122.

"The Dublin region shows an overall drop in unemployment of 11.8% - this decrease clearly demonstrates the steady pace of the economic recovery. Furthermore, these unemployment figures demonstrate the success of Labour's jobs policies."

"While both the national and the local economy is showing signs of recovery, I am determined to see that this trend translates into real jobs across the Northside of Dublin. Young people need to feel they have career opportunities in Ireland and that is why I support the further roll out of the Youth Guarantee, in which Labour played a major role in bringing to fruition."

"Government, and TDs at a local level, must continue to focus on getting people back to work. There are still unemployment 'blackspots' on the Northside of Dublin which have yet to see the benefits of the economic boom, and where problems of long-term structural unemployment were never addressed by previous governments. I look forward to continuing to work on the progress that's being made and where possible look at new channels that could lead to jobseekers finding work."
