Dublin Bay North Labour TD Sean Kenny has welcomed the news of structural improvements that schools across Dublin Bay North will be able to avail of this summer.

"Minister for Education and Skills Jan O'Sullivan today announced a €36m investment in 559 schools throughout the country. The investment is the final part of the current Summer Works Scheme and will bring total investment in small and medium scale works in our primary and post-primary schools under the scheme to more than €108m."

"St Brigids Convent NS in Killester, Dublin 5 is having changes made to its external appearance. In Beaumont, St. Fiachra's Senior NS in Montrose Park is getting new windows, as are St John of God NS on Kilmore Rd in Artane and Scoil Neasain in Harmonstown."

"St. Paul's College on Sybil Hill is having changes made to its external appearance and Naiscoil Ide on All Saints Drive is having new windows put in. Both of these schools are in Raheny. North Bay Educate Together NS on Greendale Ave in Kilbarrack are getting new windows put in which is something I know they have been seeking for period of time now. Scoil Bhride in Donaghmede is also getting new windows."

"In Baldoyle St Michael's House Special School is going to be having structural improvements done while St Mary's Secondary School will be getting new windows. In Sutton, the Burrow NS will be getting new windows and also in Portmarnock, Scoil Naomh Mearnog on the Strand Road in Portmarnock will be getting the same."

"This is an important investment that will directly benefit 559 schools. It will see the allocation of over €36m for vital school works such as window repair and replacement, upgrading of science and specialist rooms and external improvements such as upgrading of school perimeter fences and walls. The majority of works will be carried out over the summer months to minimise disruption to students, teachers and other school staff. It will also provide an important capital injection to the construction sector and boost job creation. In 2015 the Department of Education will invest more than €450m in school infrastructure. It's an important investment that needs to continue as our economy recovers."
