A brand new Primary Care Centre has been approved for the Coolock/Darndale area, local Labour TD Sean Kenny has confirmed.

"Construction on the new facility will be getting underway early next year and will be built and operational late in 2016 or early 2017. The new centre will be situated at the Health Centre on Cromcastle Road in Dublin 5 and will house GP and community nursing teams."

"It will offer the following services -

  • GP Out of Hours Service
  • Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy
  • Social Work
  • Speech & Language Therapy
  • Home Help, Dental Services
  • Mental Health Services
  • Early Intervention and School Age
  • Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services
  • Ambulance Services"

"I am very, very pleased to confirm that this new Primary Care Centre is going ahead and that the Coolock area is to get its own Primary Care Centre. This is something that I have been pushing for over the last number of years, along with my Labour colleague and Minister for Primary Care, Kathleen Lynch. The new centre will give people in Coolock, Belcamp, Darndale, Clonshaugh, Kilmore and Beaumont a first class healthcare centre based in the heart of their communities. I'm encouraged that it will be completed so soon."

"Top quality health care in the community has been a priority for both myself as a TD and for the wider Labour Party in Government. The announcement of the clinic today proves that Labour in Government delivers for ordinary people and indeed the Labour Party leader Joan Burton stressed at the start of this year that she wanted to see ordinary people sharing in the economic recovery underway and the announcement of the Primary Care Centre in Coolock today, together with the recent news that free GP care will be provided to all under 6s and over 70s this summer, proves that Labour are fulfilling that vision."
