Dublin Bay North Labour TD Sean Kenny has welcomed the announcement that the SIPTU and IMPACT trade unions have reached an agreement with Dublin City Council regarding ambulance services in Dublin that see Dublin Fire Brigade continuing to be fully involved.

"I understand that Patricia King, the Vice President of SIPTU and Shay Cody, the General Secretary of IMPACT met with the highest levels of Dublin City Council last Friday. At the meeting, it was agreed that a number of issues would be pursued, including the Control Centre Reconfiguration Project, as recommended in a recent HIQA Report, which also includes integrated emergency ambulance call taking and dispatch."

"It is also very important that agreement was reached on the involvement of Dublin Fire Brigade in ambulance services - they will continue to be fully involved in emergency ambulance service delivery as part of this reconfiguration project and this means that there will be no reduction in emergency ambulance service delivery to the population of the Dublin region."

"I am very pleased at this announcement and also at the news that a Joint Forum within Dublin City Council that will the SIPTU and IMPACT representatives, will be established under an independent chair, Mr Stephen Brady, former Dublin Chief Fire Officer. All matters arising from the Control Centre Reconfiguration Project will be addressed in this Forum, which should mean it will easier to agree the best way forward for ambulance services in Dublin."
