Labour TD and member of the Oireachtas Transport Committee, Sean Kenny, has welcomed confirmation that €25 million is being allocated to sustainable transport projects in Dublin. "These projects will greatly benefit bus users, cyclists and pedestrians, and will see revisions to traffic management systems and upgrades and extensions to footpaths. All of this will help to reduce the congestion that is a frequent occurrence and will, I hope, make things a bit easier for those who are not using cars to get around." "I am especially pleased that the Dollymount to Sutton pedestrian and cycle route will see work on the "missing link" element of this route, from the Wooden Bridge in Clontarf to Causeway Road at Dollymount, finally underway. This is very long overdue now and I had expected things to be underway on this already." "I am very happy to see also that funding has been allocated to deal with the very challenging bottleneck at the Cat and Cage pub on the Swords Road Quality Bus Corridor, a bottleneck that really causes severe disruption to people living on the Northside of Dublin." "These projects are able to be undertaken because the economy is growing and there is more money available to tackle essential issues like these. It is also a sign of a growing economy that these issues are becoming more serious and urgent, as more people need to make use of them - doing so means Dublin can make better economic progress. I am very confident that these projects are going to help people, make their lives easier, and make Dublin a better city too."
