Householders in the Dublin Bay North area of Dublin are being encouraged to shop around and consider switching energy suppliers to get a discount on their gas and electricity bills. This week, local Labour TD Sean Kenny and Energy Minister Alex White teamed up to encourage constituents to reap the benefits of discounts on energy bills. Sean Kenny commented: "Gas and electricity bills form a large part of the household budget. I want to help ease the cost of living for hard-pressed families - that is why I am urging people to switch or speak to their supplier to demand the best rate on offer." "Wholesale gas prices, one of the drivers of household gas and electricity bills, fell significantly in 2014. My Labour Party colleague Minister Alex White has been urging energy companies to pass the benefits on to consumers." "I am pleased that a number of suppliers have done so and reduced their standard prices. But consumers in Dublin Bay North can achieve even bigger savings - of up to €300 a year - by shopping around or using price comparison websites like www.bonkers.ie and www.uswitch.ie to get the best value. I'd encourage every family to shop around to make sure they are getting the best deal." "The savings families in Dublin Bay North will make from the reduced energy costs will help make the cost of living more affordable."
