Dublin Bay North Labour TD Sean Kenny has welcomed the announcement that new schools will be built in Belmayne in 2015.

"St Francis of Assissi, Balgriffin Park, Belmayne will see a new primary school getting built and also Belmayne Educate Together NS, just beside St. Francis, will also see a new school being built."

"When the former Minister for Edulcation, Ruairi Quinn TD published Labour's five-year plan for major school building projects, he confirmed that an annual plan for each of the years from 2012 to 2016 would be published."

"The present Minister for Education, Jan O'Sullivan has now published the plan for 2015. Across the country, there will be 44 new schools and 11 major extensions at primary level and 5 new schools and 8 major extensions at secondary school level, as well as 2 new special schools. These school projects will deliver over 27,800 permanent school places and of these over 23,700 are additional places. The remainder will be the replacement of temporary or unsatisfactory accommodation."

"54 of these projects were included on the five year plan, and we had indicated they would proceed to construction in either 2014/15 or 2015/16. For these 54 schools, they are now being provided with certainty that their projects will proceed to construction during 2015."

"In total, 196 major school building projects will be undertaken during 2015 - these include projects that were scheduled for 2014, and are either already underway, or about to begin. A replacement to the five-year plan will be published in the first half of 2015 - this will cover all major school building projects for the years 2016 to 2020. I will be in further contact with you all as we begin the preparations of that plan."
