Sean Kenny, Dublin Bay North Labour TD and member of the Oireachtas Transport Committee, has said a new top-up facility on Leap cards will make for a faster and easier service for commuters.

"The new auto-load facility will increase the balance of credit on a Leap Card by topping it up from the bank account of the Leap Card holder. I believe this will greatly add to the convenience of Leap Card users, as they will no longer need to go to a ticket machine in an Irish Rail station or a shop in order to add credit to the Leap Card. Instead, they can have it topped up automatically, by an agreed amount decided upon by the user."

"Initially, the Leap Card was made available across Dublin Bus, Luas, DART and suburban rail services in the Greater Dublin and has added features over time. It has also started to go on to more widespread use across the country, and this will be continuing. The Leap Card has been in use since December of 2011 and more than 600,000 cards are now in use, so we can see from these figures that the services offered by the Leap Card are in great demand."

"I warmly welcome this latest feature to the Leap Card service and look forward to additional features, and the ability to use the Leap Card across the entire country."
