Dublin Bay North Labour TD Seán Kenny has welcomed the provision of funding for work in Howth and Baldoyle.

"Howth National School is getting funding for conversion of room to increase the capacity of the school it can continue to provide primary education to our local children. St. Mary's Secondary School in Baldoyle needs repair work to its roof and funding has been released to allow for this work to go ahead."

"I warmly welcome the funding. It is vitally important that the country maintains its educational facilities at primary level, in order to accommodate the increasing numbers of pupils over the next few years. We have to plan ahead for this, and this funding is a part of that planning."

"Minister Quinn unveiled a five year plan Schools Capital Programme earlier this year worth €1.5 billion. This will see a total of 275 major school buildings projects commenced between now and 2016. The €100 million loan being provided by the European Investment Bank (EIB) will assist in funding this investment. Construction work being supported by this initiative is expected to be completed during 2014."
