Dublin Bay North Labour TD Sean Kenny has welcomed the news that the Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairí Quinn T.D., has announced that schools across Dublin Bay North will be able to undertake school improvements this summer.

"Almost €36 million is being provided by the Department of Education and Skills under the first round of funding for the Summer Works Scheme 2014. The successful schools will receive money to improve and upgrade existing school buildings. Árdscoil La Salle in Raheny is getting work done on its gas systems, while Manor House School, also in Raheny is getting mechanical works that have been needed. St. David's C.B.S. in Artane is also having mechanical works done that the school needed. "A second round of the scheme is expected to be announced in coming weeks. This round will cover other types of improvement works, with applications still being assessed. I warmly welcome the funding and look forward to the next round of funding to be made, which will see more schools benefit from work that needs to be done to keep the schools operating and serving the children and young people in our local communities."
