Local Raheny Labour TD Sean Kenny has welcomed the visit of the Minister for Education and Skills, Mr. Ruairi Quinn TD to the official opening of St. Michael's House Special National School on the Raheny Road.

"I was delighted to welcome Minister Quinn to the official opening of the new school building for the Special National School in Raheny. The new building has made a very big difference to the children. It is a beautiful building with excellent facilities and is a superb learning environment. I know well of course, that the staff, led by Mary Downes, the Principal of St. Michael's House Special National School, are making the vital difference to the children as well. They work extremely hard and the community and wider society are very fortunate to have such committed people."

"The Department of Education and Skills have been of great help during the process of the school being built and it is a great achievement to see the entire project through to completion given the very tough economic conditions of the last few years. I know from speaking with him over the past three years he has been Minister, that Ruairi Quinn has been working very hard to try and limit the effects of the economic conditions on the Education sector, and I believe he has done a very good job in this."
