Sean Kenny, the Dublin Bay North Labour TD and member of the Oireachas Committee on Communications, Energy and Natural Resources has welcomed the invitation made by Minister Pat Rabbitte to members of the public and interested parties to send written submissions on the implementation of the Energy Efficiency Directive in Ireland.

"I think this is an important opportunity for anyone interested in energy efficiency, particularly homeowners, as well as businesses, to carefully read the consultation and take the opportunity to submit their views on this matter. If we reduce energy efficiency in the economy, the benefits will be seen in reduced energy prices, increased economic competitiveness, and more secure, sustainable jobs."

"The Energy Efficiency Directive will lead to a stable regulatory framework that will provide certainty and encourage industry to invest in renewable energy. Energy suppliers are crucial to delivering our ambitious national efficiency targets, which are challenging but I am confident that energy supply companies in Ireland are up to the challenge ahead."

"The consultation will run for four weeks from Thursday 17th October to Wednesday 13th November 2013 and submissions may be sent by email to energy.efficiency@dcenr.gov.ie."
