Dublin Bay North Labour TD, Sean Kenny, has welcomed news that Twitter are to create a further 100 jobs in Dublin, doubling the size of its European headquarters.

"Information technology is a key sector targeted in the Government Action Plan for Jobs, and in recent years we have seen significant job growth in the area, as world-leading internet companies decide to establish and expand operations in Ireland."

"Twitter is one of the biggest names in the digital world. The decision by Twitter in 2011 to establish its European HQ in Dublin was a major coup for Ireland and further confirmation of the status of the country as the internet capital of Europe."

"Today's announcement that they have created 100 jobs so far and will create a further 100 in the next 15 months is a huge boost for the country. Not only are the jobs themselves hugely welcome, but the strength of the Twitter name is a huge advantage for the Government and the IDA when they go into boardrooms across the world pitching for new investments in the Irish economy. I wish Twitter every success with their new office in Dublin."
