Dublin Bay North Labour TD Seán Kenny has welcomed the provision of funding for mechanical work at Chanel College in Coolock and emergency structural funding for St. Pauls Junior National School in Ayrfield.

"Both Chanel College and St. Paul's need this funding to update their buildings as they continues to provide an education to local children."

"I warmly welcome the funding. It is vitally important that the country maintains its educational facilities at primary level, in order to accommodate the increasing numbers of pupils over the next few years. We have to plan ahead for this, and this funding is a part of that planning."

"Minister Quinn unveiled a five year plan Schools Capital Programme earlier this year worth €1.5 billion. This will see a total of 275 major school buildings projects commenced between now and 2016. The €100 million loan being provided by the European Investment Bank (EIB) will assist in funding this investment. Construction work being supported by this initiative is expected to be completed by 2014."
