Dublin Bay North Labour TD Seán Kenny, today called on Dublin City Council to review the maintenance of the central heating systems in their Seniors City flat complexes. This follows the discovery yesterday of two people in a flat at Drumalee Court, Stoneybatter, in the north city. It is suspected that the people, who died of suspected carbon monoxide poisoning, may have been in the flat for up to four days.

"I received a phone call this morning from a worried senior citizen who told me that his gas heating system had not been serviced by Dublin City Council for over two years and he expressed fears that carbon monoxide could be present.

"With the advent of a cold spell over the next few days, I would ask householders to check their central heating boilers and to look out for older people living alone."
