"The lack of prosecutions to date over the findings of the Moriarty tribunal is regrettable and the same must not be allowed to happen with the Mahon report. Any politician who canvassed on the doors during the Fiscal Treaty Referendum will be aware of the real public anger felt on these issues."

"The Mahon tribunal found that, in 1989, £50,000 was requested and received by the then Environment Minister Pádraig Flynn, who was at time Treasurer of Fianna Fail, from developer Tom Gilmartin as a party donation to "level the playing field" in connection with the sale of the Dublin Corporation lands at Quarryvale. In 1989 I was an elected Councillor on Dublin Corporation and was completely unaware of this transaction."

"The Tribunal found that the then environment minister used the £50,000 cheque for his personal benefit and that Mr. Gilmartin intended that the cheque would be paid to Fianna Fail. The Tribunal found that Mr. Flynn corruptly sought this donation from Mr. Gilmartin for the Fianna Fail Party. This must be one of the largest political donations of all time in this state."

"Because Fianna Fáil has not made an official complaint to the Gardai concerning this corrupt payment to date it looks as if the matter may never be pursued. I would now call on Fianna Fail to report the Mahon Tribunal findings in relation to the Padraig Flynn £50,000 donation to the Gardai to restore public confidence in the political system."
