Dublin North East Labour Party T.D., Seán Kenny has welcomed the decision taken by Irish Rail to have all train services on the Northside of Dublin fully operating.

"I am pleased that this weekend's planned resignalling commissioning is being deferred by Irish Rail and that full DART, Northern Commuter and Belfast Enterprise services will operate. A normal public holiday weekend service will now operate, which will include a Sunday service on DART and Northern Commuter on Bank Holiday Monday.

"While the resignalling work is important and needs to be done, it was totally unacceptable that the work be done on a Bank Holiday weekend, which would only serve to hurt tourism and local businesses all over the Northside of Dublin, but I think particularly in Howth and Malahide, where a lot of people will visit this weekend."

"I understand from Irish Rail that the schedule for commissioning of the new signalling is being re-examined and that Irish Rail will make it their priority to minimise disruption, minimise costs and meet commissioning process requirements. A new schedule for these works will be confirmed in the near future."
