Dublin North East Labour TD, Seán Kenny, today called on the household waste collector, Greyhound, to cease their practice of collecting household bins at midnight.

"This week I received several queries from Greyhound customers in the Raheny area who complained that they were alarmed when woken between midnight and 1.30am by the sound of Greyhound trucks collecting brown bins from outside their homes. This is an unearthly hour to have heavy trucks trundling through housing estates creating noise and needless alarm. Some residents told me that when they were awoken by the truck noise they feared that their home was being broken into."

"I would call on Greyhound to confine their bin collection times to daylight hours in future. I strongly urge Greyhound to improve their customer phone service as people who want to comment on the quality of the service just cannot get through to Greyhound."
