Dublin North East TD and Oireachtas Transport Committee Member Sean Kenny today warmly welcomed the beginning of the rollout of the long awaited integrated ticketing system for public transport in Dublin.

"It is fantastic to see this scheme nearing completion and is hugely positive for commuters. The new Leap Card will be easy to use and will be a real help for people travel around the city by Dublin Bus, Luas, DART and Commuter Rail services."

Today, the National Transport Authority is calling for 500 customers (aged 16+) to assist in the final testing of the new integrated transport ticketing system - Leap Card - for all Luas and Dublin Bus services and Irish Rail Services between Balbriggan, Greystones, Hazelhatch and Maynooth. I would encourage people to sign up for this final testing stage as goodwill ambassadors, and once we get feedback from users, the card will be introduced for wider public usage within a matter of weeks."

"I would also point out that of course, people who currently use annual and monthly tickets will still be able to use their cards, which will continue to work as normal, alongside the new Leap Card. When the Leap Card is fully launched to the public, work will be undertaken to enhance the product further in order to bring different operators and products into the scheme."
